This 1953 Dodge Power Wagon Restmod Could Be Yours for $450,000

Paying $450,000 for just about anything seems like a lot of money, let alone an old Dodge pickup truck. But before you decide to take a trip and find your own cheaper 1953 Power Wagon crew cab, there’s something you need to know. Dodge didn’t build a crew cab Power Wagon for 1953, or any other year, for that matter. This is a highly personalized restomod, and if you have the money spare, this can be yours.

According to Mecum’s auction listing, this old truck has been completely rebuilt and upgraded beyond the extra doors in the rear. A 2.8-liter Cummins turbodiesel four-cylinder sits under the hood, connected to a five-speed manual transmission. Four-wheel disc brakes provide stopping power, while Bilstein shock absorbers and Warn axle hubs contribute to the Power Wagon’s four-wheel-drive system. It all rides on a set of gigantic 39-inch BFGoodrich tires. For comparison, 1953 Power Wagons were originally equipped with flathead inline-six engines with four-speed non-synchromesh manual transmissions.

Inside, the old Power Wagon interior is dressed with black leather bucket seats in the front and a leather bench seat in the rear. There’s also black carpeting, and while the dashboard has a quirky look, it’s adorned with retro-modern gauges and a touchscreen infotainment system. It also has air conditioning, and for those days when fresh air is desired, the custom four-door cabin features a fabric roof that slides open. The bed is redone with wood flooring, while the exterior sports a bright red hue with black on the fenders and running boards. The large front bumper is also black and is crowned with a 16,500-pound Warn winch.

Specific construction details are not mentioned in the auction listing. Photos show a clean truck inside and out, and the odometer shows just one mile since the restoration. Its auction is scheduled for May 17; Mecum estimates it could bring in between $350,000 and $450,000 when the hammer falls.
